eBay Finds* part 1- Items sold relating to Sheridan.

This is part 1 of an ongoing series. Over the years, there has been many items sold on eBay that relate to Sheridan. Using the website Worthpoint one can find past sales, I decided to write this article because there are many items I, personally have never seen or knew about and I figured many of my readers may not either.


The information provided is based solely on my existing knowledge of each item or the pertinent details from the eBay or auction listing from which it was obtained. Further research on each item has not been conducted.

Description: large tin box reinforced with wood and steel with carrying straps. Original blue with yellow stenciled labels for breads by Sheridan Bread Company, Sheridan, Wyoming. Perhaps for use on a chuck wagon. 20"h. 28"w. 19.5"d. Estimate $200-400.

Item: Seven-Eighths Inch Celluloid Political Pin "For Governor Horace C. Alger".

Description: Alger served as the 4th and 13th Mayors of Sheridan, Wyoming, 1889 and 1898 respectively. In 1898, he was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Wyoming, but he lost to Republican DeForest Richards by a vote of 10,383 to 8,989.

Item: Magic Lantern Glass Slide Photo J B Rich Big Horns Near Sheridan Wyoming 1908.

Description: Ok condition. The slide tape has been replaced and there is damage to the image - standard 4" x 3.25". The photo was taken by a photographer by the name of J. B. Rich out of Philadelphia PA. He was a member of the Wanamaker Indian Expedition Of 1908 and worked with famed photographer Joseph Dixon. Magic lantern slides consist of two slides of glass, a photo gel and a adhesive boarder.

Description: SHERIDAN, WYOMING, REAL PHOTO POSTCARD THAT IS MARKED ON THE BACK, LENETTA PORTS HOME, WHEN SHE WAS 7 YEARS OLD. HER FATHER WAS W.F. PORTS. IT DATES TO 1916 postally unused, good condition, almost a frame around the card.
